All PVFD apparatus shall be
checked out every meeting night prior to start of meeting. Any
repairs/maintenance required shall be documented on the apparatus work
order/repair form and place in the repair bin. Items to check include:
1. Fluid levels (pumps included)
2. Fuel levels (apparatus will have no less than ¾ for gas, ½ for diesel, and
auxiliary pumps will be full)
3. Lights (emergency, truck, compartment, step, scene, flashlights),
and sirens.
4. Tire air pressure
5. Equipment
A. Hand tools
B. Hydraulic and gas operated tools
C. Gas meter
D. Heat sensor
6. Hydraulic equipment will be hooked up and operated.
7. All gas operated equipment will be run for 5 minutes. If equipment has fuel
shutoff valve turn to off position and allow equipment to run until it stops.
Turn fuel valve back to on position.
8. Battery operated equipment will be run until battery depletes and then
placed on charger to recharge. If no extra battery is available then run 1
minute to check operation.
9. Apparatus with pumps will have the pumps engaged, water circulated (10+/-
minutes), relief valve operated (if applicable), primer operated, and valves
checked (exception of pre-connects). Check for water leaks
10. EMS equipment will be checked for sufficient medical supplies. Oxygen
bottle will be cheeked to assure regulator operates properly and that no less
than 500 psi reads on gauge. If less than 500 psi replace bottle. All
apparatus shall have a box of EMS gloves.
11. Ice chests re-supplied with ice and water.
12. Any repairs or supplies needed notify PVFD officer.
