Section 13. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)
PVFD PPE will consist of the following:
1. Structural
A. Helmet
with shield or goggles
B. Hood
C. Coat
D. Pant
E. Boots
F. Gloves
G. SCBA and
mask
This equipment shall be worn when engaged in any interior/exterior structural
firefighting, vehicle fire, or any other incident of an IDLH environment that
would require such protection. PPE is not to be left on apparatus.
2. Wild land fire
A.Wild land
gear or structural gear
B. No shoes
other than approved boots allowed at any time
3. MVA
A. Helmet
with shield or goggles
B. Coat
C. Pants
D. Boots
E. Gloves
F. Orange
safety vest (if not directly involved in patient care or extrication activities)
4. EMS
A. Gloves
(latex or latex free)
B. Eye
protection
C. Mask if
appropriate
This equipment is to protect against blood borne pathogens and body fluids
It is the responsibility of the members to notify a PVFD officer of any repairs
or replacements needed to their PPE. Loss or damage due to negligence will be
the responsibility of the PVFD member the gear is assigned to.
No PVFD member
except officers will be allowed to keep their gear with them without prior
approval from the PVFD Chief.
