Section 20. CAREFLITE LANDING ZONE (LZ)

1.      Designate LZ commander and LZ location.

2.       LZ shall be a minimum of a clear 100’ x 100’ area.

3.      PVFD shall use strobe lights to mark LZ. Red at 4 corners with blue signaling wind direction. No cones, flares, or other objects shall be used that can become projectiles and injure personnel of the helicopter.

4.      Mark poles with lights (not the wires).

5.      Maintain a safe distance from LZ with apparatus and personnel.

6.      Be prepared to deploy 2 ½” line or deck gun into operation.

7.      Keep all unnecessary personnel and on lookers away from LZ.

8.      Remember the rotor wash can cause eye injuries.
